While read 'E-Commerce APIs' documentation I found this terms: 'Currently, this API only supports shipping with standard Mail, and only within the United States.'.
It's very sad info because I'm located in Russia and I'm going to create site for ex-USSR users (most of them are Russian-speaking persons) with Lulu's Publishing API in mind. I would like to allow my users to have transparent publishing process on my site(s) without leaving it for their books ordering, using my own web interface with user's native language.
Is it possible to change this API's status?
NOTE: I'm ready to sign up reseller's agreement, etc.
P.S. May be it's possible to expand this API to provide us with ability to prepaid some funds to our developers accounts, to be able to pay from our owd credit card, regictered for developer account, etc.?
Hope this problem might be resolved in closer future. :)
I actually have it on my list of things to do today/tomorrow to update this documentation. However, this API is US only for right now. International shipping and taxes are fundamentally different from single-country solutions. We are working hard to support international shipments. We will post more information as the legal implications become more clear.
The new version of the E-Commerce API is under development, and will be a general availability release, and support world-wide distribution. The limited availability beta helped us to learn where we had made mistakes with our API, and was very valuable. On Saturday, we are releasing a project that took longer than originally anticipated. With that project behind us, we are hoping to release the production E-Commerce API within the next two months.
You are all being very patient with us. We have made good progress, and we are working really hard to get these APIs released. I was expecting the release this month, but that date has been pushed back again. Right now, our issue is order status. I'm waiting on another update from my team, and then I'll get another update out.
We are hoping that we are quite close to general availability of these new APIs. Implementation is complete, and we are now working on the infrastructure, configuration, and deployment.
I apologize for the delayed response here, by the way. Both Ryan and I have been out of the office lately.
I currently have a product that I would like to have shipped to
Australian customers - but I notice that your API only supports US distribution.
I know you are updating this API becuas you have different taxes to
consider. My question is - do you have another way I can send orders from my
system to yours? Perhaps we can build something on our end that pushes an email
to your regular order receiving system so that we can allow for Australian
orders.
Thank you for your interest in our API Program. Over the last two years, we have made significant investments into building our APIs and making them useful to third-party developers. Unfortunately, they have not achieved the adoption which we had anticipated and we will no longer be accepting new developers.
As a part of this, we have also made the decision to not release the e-commerce API.
You may see your local telephone service providers' commercials all the time, but you may not realize that there are other companies offering cheap home phone service plans. These phone services are feature-rich and affordable. To understand the different phone services available, read about how VoIP works. Often the home phone VoIP providers offer services for free.

Sad news. :(
Well... Am I able to use this APIs for clients in US, if I'm located outside US?
Ryan Bloom – 2 years ago
Yes, as long as your customers are in the US, you may use this API.

That's great news! I have friends that would also like to use the API in their own native language as well. Looking forward to share it with them.

How can I use the e-commerceAPI with my site. I read there is like a waiting list. can I just go to the Git-Hub repository?
